ARE YOU SUS? SUSTAINABLE PRACTICE FOR GREENER PRODUCTION
Sustainable production isn't just good for the planet. It's increasingly affecting commissioning decisions, client relationships and your reputation in the industry. The question is no longer whether it matters. It's
what you actually do about it on a real production, with a real budget and a schedule that leaves no room for idealism.
This session is an opportunity to have that conversation.
Sustainability doesn't have all the answers yet. Many of the most effective solutions are being developed by people working across the industry every day. This session is an opportunity to share what's working,
discuss what's not, and explore practical ways we can all make our productions more sustainable.
NOT A PANEL. NOT A LECTURE.
This is a facilitated workshop built around small-group conversation. Documentary and unscripted professionals sharing what's working, what isn't, and what they wish they'd known sooner.
No jargon. No finger-pointing. No pressure to have it all figured out.
Instead, we'll focus on practical, achievable actions that can be implemented in the real world of documentary and unscripted production, where budgets are tight, schedules are demanding and teams are expected to do more with less.
LET'S TALK ABOUT...
The Stories We Tell
How documentary and factual content shapes attitudes, behaviour and culture around sustainability.
Power on Production
Generators, batteries, energy use and how to make smarter choices without derailing your shoot.
How We Move Around
Travel and transport is often one of the biggest contributors to a production's carbon footprint. We'll look at what's actually possible.
Using Less, Wasting Less
Practical ways to cut waste, share resources and get more out of what you already have.
WHO THIS IS FOR?
Commissioners, MD's, Executives, Producers, Directors, Production Managers, Location Managers, Self-shooters, Technical Crew, Editors, Researchers, Co-ordinators, Fixers, Caterers, Freelancers and Students.
If you work in documentary or unscripted, there's something here for you, whether sustainability is new territory or something you're already navigating.
Bring your questions. Bring your experiences. Bring examples of what's worked for you.
You don't need to arrive with all the answers. But by the end of the session, you'll have a clearer understanding of what being SUS looks like in practice and a few ideas you can take back to your next production.
